First Minister on the latest developments in the fight against Coronavirus

Mark Drakeford has been updating journalists this lunchtime and lockdown rules will be reviewed towards the end of next week

 

Mark Drakeford has been carrying out his briefing to journalists this afternoon, covering the latest developments in trials and research to beat the virus. He also said Lockdown rules in Wales would be reviewed next week, and that he would be meeting Michael Gove later today.

Here are the key points. 

- The First Minister said the 500 people in Aneurin Bevan Health Board area who will trial a vaccine are part of a global effort to beat the virus

- Mark Drakeford said pilot contact tracing schemes would be rolled out in parts of Wales as part of their "Test, Trace and Protect" strategy

- Care and Health staff will be prioritised in the use of the new antibody tests which have been created by a home grown company.

- Lockdown restrictions will be reviewed towards the end of next week but for now he is urging people in Wales to protect the people they love by staying home this Bank Holiday Weekend.
