Police think they now know the cause of the Caerphilly house fire
One person remains in a critical condition in hospital following an explosion at a house in Caerphilly on Monday (11th June)
Emergency services were called to an address on Dan-Y-Darren in Llanbradach at 5:30pm.
Five people were taken to hospital, two with life threatening injures.
Police say three people remain in hospital and one "remains in a stable but critical condition".
Officers believe they have identified the cause of the blaze that left neighbours in shock.
Gwent Police force spokesperson said, "We can now confirm the incident was believed to have been caused by items within the property combusting.
"As a result, there has been significant damage caused to the premises and a cordon is still in place as a safety precaution.
"Five people were taken to hospital, one has since been discharged, three are in hospital receiving treatment on non-life threatening injuries and one remains in a stable condition but critical condition.
"At this time, no other people are being sought in connection with this incident and enquires are ongoing.
"We appreciate the help and support of the community in Llanbradach and ask anyone with information to please call 101."
